Bob Iger Disney Chairman and CEO announced at the Disney Fan Convention the D23 Expo, that “…We’re creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever…”
The 14 acre “Star Wars Land” will start construction in 2017 in San Diego and will take about 3 years to build. The park will feature new rides such as taking control of the Millennium Falcon in a secret mission as well as the Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine, the infamous hub for rogues, bounty hunters and smugglers and a Star Wars First Order battle ride.
The new Star Wars lands will consist of immersive environments evoking the Star Wars universe. Bob Iger described it as a “remote port, one of the last stops before wild space…” and will also have “…an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you right in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and The Resistance…”
A Star Wars theme park will also be built simultaneously at Disneyland in Orlando Florida.
