Ridley Scott has confirmed the sequel to the 2012 Prometheus film will begin shooting in early 2016 and apparently its called Aliens: Paradise Lost.
The first Prometheus film left fans with a lot more questions then answers on the Aliens franchise, specifically what tied the Prometheus “engineers” to the “Xenomorphs” from the Aliens quadrilogy. And why did the ‘engineers” create humanity only then to try and wipe it out?
Noomi Rapace will return as Elizabeth Shaw with Michael Fassbender as android David. However it looks like the HR Geiger Aliens are out of the picture for “Prometheus 2” as Ridley has stated “…The beast is done. Cooked..I think it wears out a little bit. There’s only so much snarling you can do…”
Fans will eventually get some answers however as Ridley told FilmFlutter magazine “…The whole point of it (Prometheus) is to explain the Alien franchise and to explain the how and why of the creation of the Alien itself…” In an interview with the German site, Ridley stated “It won’t be in the next [movie]…It will be the one after this one, or maybe even a fourth film, before we get back into the Alien franchise.” Ridley Scott has however hinted that Aliens: Paradise Lost will have connections to Ripley but he’s being tight lipped about what the connection is.
It looks like the Director will be kept busy for several years running with a possible Blade Runner sequel and an Aliens 5 movie also in discussion.
