Neko Nation Anime Event

Australia’s anime nightclub event brings a touch of Japan to Brisbane.

Neko Nation is a nightclub event inspired by those of Akihabara, Japan as well as Japanese maid cafes. It was started in Perth in 2011 by anime fans for anime fans who wanted to dance, drink and party the night away. In the following year events were held in five capital cities.

Its 2015 Brisbane event on 12 December is at a new venue: the brand new AMPED in Brunswick Street Fortitude Valley with a large dance floor, great bar, chill areas and outstanding lighting set up.

Expect anime music videos, special anime and gaming themed cocktails as well as video games on hand to play. Cosplay is not mandatory but encouraged. However with a decent crowd expected, weapons are discouraged. Fan service by Catgirls delivering sushi through to the wee small hours along with free candy from catboys.

Dancing music will include K-pop, J-pop, J-rock, J-core, chiptunes, bubblegum pop gaming and anime songs and remixes. Prizes for the best costume, best dancers and best fans service.

Newcomers and veterans, such as those at the 2014 event shown here in an ALT TeeVee video, most welcome. Tickets from Zombster Toowong or Eventbrite for $20, or $25 at the door if not sold out. From here the event moves to Perth on November 28 and Adelaide on 9 January 2016.
